Track Day Event
Friday, March 26th

The Harris Hill Road Course has been booked for members of Texas Cobra Club to get track time on Friday afternoon of the San Marcos State Meet.

As an exciting add on to the meet's usual activities, we will have organized multi-session track use opportunity for spirited closed course excitement. The private use of H2R by Texas Cobra Club will be open to Advanced, Intermediate, and Novice participants.

The afternoon promises to be fun-filled for all participants and spectators alike. The event will provide an economical, local venue for members from all corners of the state to track together. H2R will offer a great mix of challenging performance driving for the advanced group, to low-pressure sessions of follow the leader through hills and twisties for the novice.

Participation is limited and is first come, first serve. through return of Enrollment and Tech-Check forms, and payment.

Fee for participation is $140 per driver, with proceeds going to Operation Comfort. Pay Here

Gridding will be managed by our own Jay Nordstrom, based upon prior track experience, requested group, and number of participants. All cars must submit to tech inspection prior to being admitted to the grid.

Our 5 hours of track time will run from 1:00 - 6:00pm, with check-in beginning at the track around 11:00am.
All participants and spectators must check-in and sign the group waiver upon arrival.

Additional track layout maps, tracking photos, and in-car track video can be found at H2R.

TCC Spring Meet 2009 From JSHEL1's Freshman Perspective PDF Print E-mail

I had a Great Time, and it was Great to Meet Some New Friends

Wow, what a weekend. It was a great meet from my freshman perspective; couldn't imagine anything better. I believe we experienced a great meeting of the minds, as well. As far as new friends, I met so many new people that I couldn't keep them all straight. I was successful in putting a-lot of faces with names from time spent on the boards and email. I can't begin to mention so many names, or recall all that I met. I will mention long time cobraphiles Paul Cass and Dee Walters; good talking with you both.

I also heard great minds discussing worldly topics:

  • "There is no replacement for displacement... but I can also respect a high revving engine as well." (sounds like a fence sitter not knowing which company he was in when walking into a BB/SB debate)
  • "Do you think she is a D, or a large C?"
  • "Wine is fine, but liquor is quicker!" (... perhaps a discussion relevant to the lady above)
  • "Do you really think Austin traffic is worse than Houston traffic?"
  • "Are you going to the Oasis or doing the Road Rally?"
  • "We don't have to go anywhere, the tattoo artist is coming here!"
  • "Where does all of this water keep coming from?"

Getting There

Call it freshman hazing, my initiation, or just an old fashion outdoor baptizing, but my talisman did not ward off or prepare me for such a drenching. Emboldened by the vanguard of past DFW cobra driving the distance in open cars, I followed in the footsteps of Mad Miles, DoubleR, Alien Fred, Thomas, DB, John Russell, JDean, and others not trailering to the their first meet.

Hi Everyone,

We are now taking orders for 16"x20" posters. These are not printed on standard poster paper TCC Flyerbut are high quality photographic prints from a professional lab. There are two styles available. We've also posted information regarding on-site photography that we will be providing at the event. Click on the links on the news column at TexasCobraMeet.com.

The event photo team will be at the Commemorative Air Force Hangar from 10AM-Noon Friday (and possibly Saturday morning) for a photo shoot with your Cobra and their P-39 Airacobra. The guys at the hangar have also generously offered to provide flight suits if you would like to wear them for the shoot, and also a helmet to hold. Please be ready to do a quick detail on your Cobra (this includes tires!) so we can provide you with the best quality photograph.

Austin Map

FYI - if the group shot on Saturday in Wimberley looks like it needs to be moved due to weather, we will do the group shot on the ramp outside the CAF hangar at this location.

The address for the CAF hangar is: 1841 Airport Drive, San Marcos, Texas 78666

We will be posting links to the forum within 1-2 weeks after the meet to take you to a site where you can view the event photos. Various options will provided for ordering prints of your Cobra at the meet.

Come by and see us!

Thanks,
The Photo Team
